BOOKING POLICIES

RESERVATION POLICIES:

  • All courses must be paid for in advance/upon booking, in order to reserve your place.

  • All parties must be paid for in advance/upon booking, in order to reserve your place.

  • All Encounters must be paid for in advance by cheque or cash on the day.

  • All seminars must be paid for in advance by cheque, BACS or cash on the day.

We accept cash, cheque and BACS transfers.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Courses: If you cancel more than 2 weeks prior to the course you will receive a 50% refund. If you cancel less than 2 weeks prior to the course it is non refundable.
Parties: If you cancel more than 2 weeks prior to the party you will receive a 50% refund. If you cancel less than 2 weeks prior to the party it is non refundable.
Seminars: All seminars must be paid for in advance by cheque or BACS transfer. If you cancel it is non refundable.

CHECK-IN:

Please arrive at Heythrop Zoological Gardens and follow signs to park your car. We will greet you in the Reception Centre and update you in person on safety throughout your stay.

FACILITIES & ON-SITE:

Heythrop Zoological Gardens is a private company and not a zoo which is open to the public. This means that wheelchair users may find it difficult to access some areas. Please contact us in advance to discuss how we can accommodate your visit.

MEDICAL CONCERNS:

Please let us know in advance if you have specific requirements or concerns from a medical perspective and we will do our best to accommodate these.

LICENSING & QUALIFICATIONS

Heythrop Zoological Gardens has long been at the forefront of Animal Welfare. When you work so closely with animals and require animals to be cooperative, it breeds a strong need to ensure your charges have the best lives possible. Therefore, it should be of little surprise that HZG not only seeks the best validation by the law and veterinary bodies, but that they have been actively involved in raising legal and educational standards in Animal Care and Welfare.

 

  • Amazing Animals/Heythrop Zoological Gardens is licensed under Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.  Licence Number: W/19/00088/AEXHIB

  • Amazing Animals/Heythrop Zoological Gardens is licensed under the Dangerous Wild Animal Act 1976

  • Amazing Animals/Heythrop Zoological Gardens is the only UK private company of its kind to be Balai Approved. This means that they have to meet very high standards of inspection and submit monthly health reports on all zoo-type animals in their care. The directive is so demanding that those who are in possession of it are permitted to transport non-domestic species to zoos and other animal collections in the EU with little to no quarantine regulations

  • Amazing Animals/Heythrop Zoological Gardens is a founding member of the UK’s largest and oldest self-regulatory trade body for animals in the audiovisual industry – ACTA (Animal Consultants and Trainers Association)

  • All those caring for the animals on assignments will have extensive experience working with trained animals (over 20 years in some cases) and/or be in possession of other animal training qualifications such as the QCF/NVQ levels 3-4 for Animal Training in the Audiovisual Industries/Education and Entertainment as well as other accredited qualifications in animal behaviour

  • Amazing Animals/Heythrop Zoological Gardens were also involved in writing the respective NVQ /QCF qualifications in 2006/2010

  • Amazing Animals/Heythrop Zoological Gardens were involved in the writing of standards for two Trailblazer Apprenticeships in Animal Care – Animal Care and Welfare Assistant (level 2) and Animal Trainer (level 4). They continue to be actively involved with several representatives from the Animal Care industry (including animal charities) in the delivery of these apprenticeships

  • Amazing Animals/Heythrop Zoological Gardens is in possession of an Animal Transporter Authorisation Council Regulation (SC) No 1/2005 (Articles 10 and 11). This is a licence that covers them for the transportation of all animals

  • Amazing Animals/Heythrop Zoological Gardens members of staff that transport any UK agricultural animals will have the relevant NPTC Level 2 Award Transport of Animals by Road (Short Journeys)

  • CITES appendix 1 animals are micro-chipped and have article 10 licences, which permits them to be used for commercial purposes

  • Amazing Animals/Heythrop Zoological Gardens have public liability for £5m

This is the privacy policy of Heythrop Zoological Gardens Ltd, Green Lane, Heythrop, Chipping Norton, Oxon, OX7 5TU. Heythrop Zoological Gardens Ltd values your privacy and wishes to reassure all their contacts with their below policy on safeguarding personal data.

As of 25/05/18 Heythrop Zoological Gardens Ltd has updated its privacy policy in line with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) (OJ L 119, 4.5.2016, p. 1).

The nature of your enquiry will dictate how your data will be used.


Heythrop Zoological Gardens

This concerns all enquiries for Annual Open Days and Animal Encounters. Heythrop Zoological Gardens will only use your private data to keep you up to date with the services they can provide by way of e-marketing. Heythrop Zoological Gardens will not share your private data with, or sell it to, any other company. Ticket information for the annual open days will only be kept on file for one year.

Work Experience, Employment, Apprenticeships and Volunteers

This concerns all enquiries for Work Experience Placements, Paid Employment, Apprenticeships and Volunteer Work. Heythrop Zoological Gardens Ltd will only use your private data from your curriculum vitae and your application form to decide upon your suitability to work at their establishment. This information will only be shared between the senior members of staff responsible for assessing work experience placements, apprentices and employees. Heythrop Zoological Gardens Ltd will only disclose your name and duration of your placement/employment/apprenticeship to third parties if they request a reference, including outside and within the EU.


How we obtained your data

If you make an enquiry or use Heythrop Zoological Gardens Ltd services, they will add your email, name, phone number and postal address, along with a few other details such as what type of client you are and what service you enquired about, to a file on their database. Heythrop Zoological Gardens Ltd t/a Amazing Animals will hold your private data until you request that they remove it from their database.

CODE OF CONDUCT

All visitors are to read, agree and abide by the below Code of Conduct as a condition of their entrance to Heythrop Zoological Gardens, hereafter known as H.Z.G. H.Z.G. reserves the right, at the discretion of gate attendants and management, to refuse entry to the premises and to escort off the premises anyone who contravenes the H.Z.G. Code of Conduct.

  • Pets (including dogs) are not permitted on the premises

  • You must not feed or touch the animals unless permission is granted by a H.Z.G. member of staff

  • No climbing on or leaning over the fences, walls or barriers

  • No throwing objects at the animals or into their enclosures

  • Put all litter in the bins provided

  • Please follow all H.Z.G. written and verbal instructions given throughout the day, as these are for your own safety and the welfare of H.Z.G’s animals

  • Entering restricted areas is strictly forbidden

  • Please make sure you wash your hands if you touch any of the animals. Hand gel and hand washing facilities are available around the premises

  • All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Furthermore, all visitors must be able to look after members of their own group as personal assistance is not available from H.Z.G. staff

  • H.Z.G. Ltd is not responsible for any loss or damage of property

  • H.Z.G. reserves the right to prohibit any member of the public from any future entry to their premises. Furthermore, H.Z.G. reserves the right to escort off the premises any individual who displays any of the below behaviours: Uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards our staff, volunteers or other visitors on site, or disrupts any of their animals. Destroys or wilfully misuses any of H.Z.G’s property. Behaves in a manner, which in their opinion is likely to affect the enjoyment of other visitors. Takes into H.Z.G’s premises or is found to have on their possession offensive weapons or dangerous articles. Fails to follow the written or verbal health and safety instructions of each area of H.Z.G’s premises or behaves in a matter which may endanger the safety of that person, other visitors or animals at H.Z.G’s premises

All photographs and video footage are for personal use only and MUST NOT be posted on any commercial or fund-raising internet websites or used for commercial/financial gain unless written permission is granted by H.Z.G. senior management.

DO NOT post images of the faces of any members of the visiting public, members of staff or volunteers, especially under 18s, that have not given their consent.
